How to find someone's email from their LinkedIn profile

LinkedIn rarely shows email addresses, even for your own connections. Here are five methods that actually work — from free manual tricks to a 1-click finder — and the compliance rules for using what you find.

You've found the right person — the title fits, the company fits, the timing fits. But LinkedIn messages get buried, and connection requests can sit unanswered for weeks. Email is still the channel where B2B deals start. The problem: LinkedIn goes out of its way not to show you one.

Here are the five realistic methods, ordered from "free but unreliable" to "fast and verified". Use the free ones for one-off lookups; use a tool when you're building a list.

Method 1: check the Contact info section

Every profile has a Contact info link just under the headline, next to the location. Click it and you'll see whatever the person chose to share: websites, a Twitter/X handle, sometimes a birthday — and occasionally an email address.

The honest success rate is low. Emails generally appear only for 1st-degree connections, and only when the person has allowed connections to see their address in their privacy settings. When an address is there, it's often a personal Gmail rather than the work email you need for B2B outreach. Still — it takes five seconds, so check it first.

Method 2: guess the company email pattern

Most companies use one email pattern for everyone. If you know the pattern and the person's name, you can construct the address. The common formats, roughly in order of popularity:

Find the domain on the company website, then look for any publicly listed employee email (press contact, sales alias, a conference speaker bio) to confirm which pattern the company uses. One confirmed example usually reveals the pattern for everyone.

Verify before you send. A guessed address is a coin flip until it's verified, and hard bounces are expensive: once your bounce rate creeps past roughly 5%, mail providers start routing you to spam. Never blast a list of unverified guesses — run them through verification first, or use a finder that verifies for you.

Method 3: Google them

People leak their own email addresses constantly — in conference PDFs, press releases, webinar registrations, personal sites, and GitHub commits. A few queries worth trying:

  • "Jane Doe" "Acme" email
  • site:acme.com "jane.doe"
  • "[email protected]" — test a pattern guess directly; a result confirms it
  • For developers: search their GitHub commits, which often carry a real address

This works surprisingly often for founders, speakers, and anyone with a public footprint. It's slow, though — a few minutes per person — which is fine for one lookup and hopeless for a list of 200.

Method 4: use an email finder tool

Email finders combine crawled public data, known company patterns, and live mailbox verification to return an address with a confidence level. They're the standard answer once volume matters.

The workflow friction is real, though: standalone finders live in another tab, so you end up copy-pasting names and companies back and forth, then copy-pasting results into a spreadsheet. Per-lookup it's fast; across a list it's another manual pipeline to babysit.

Method 5: one click on the profile with Linkydy

Linkydy builds the finder into LinkedIn itself. Open any profile — regular LinkedIn or Sales Navigator — and click Find Email or Find Phone. The result lands directly on that person's lead card in the built-in CRM, next to their name, title, company, and outreach status. No tab-switching, no copy-paste.

Install & sign in

Add Linkydy to Chrome and sign in with your email. Free credits are included — no credit card.

Open a profile, click Find Email

Works on regular profiles and Sales Navigator profiles. Find Phone sits right next to it.

Use it or export it

The enriched contact is on the lead card, ready for outreach — or export the whole list to CSV with emails and phones included.

Because enrichment is part of the same CRM, it composes with the rest of the workflow: collect a whole search page of prospects, enrich them in bulk, then send personalized invites or messages — see the email finder feature page and outreach automation for the details.

Keep it legal: GDPR and CAN-SPAM in two minutes

Finding a business email is the easy part; using it properly is what keeps you out of trouble. The short version:

  • Stick to business addresses. Under GDPR, processing work contact data for relevant B2B outreach generally rests on legitimate interest — a personal Gmail for cold sales does not.
  • Be relevant and transparent. Your legitimate-interest argument is only as good as the fit between the person's role and your offer.
  • Include an opt-out in every email and honor it promptly — CAN-SPAM requires a working unsubscribe and truthful sender details.
  • Delete on request. If someone asks where you got their data or wants it removed, comply quickly.
Practical rule: write every cold email as if the recipient will ask "why me?" — if you have a good answer, you're on the right side of both the law and the reader. Steal openers from our cold outreach message templates.

FAQ

Where does LinkedIn show someone's email address?

In the Contact info section, under the profile headline. In practice it only appears for some 1st-degree connections, and even then many people list a personal address rather than a work email. For 2nd- and 3rd-degree profiles LinkedIn almost never shows an email.

How accurate are guessed email patterns like [email protected]?

Common corporate patterns cover most companies, but a guess is only a guess until it is verified. Sending to unverified guesses causes hard bounces, and a bounce rate above roughly 5% starts to hurt your sender reputation. Always verify pattern guesses before emailing.

Is finding business emails from LinkedIn GDPR-compliant?

GDPR permits processing business contact data under legitimate interest for relevant B2B outreach, provided you are transparent, keep data secure, and honor objections. CAN-SPAM additionally requires accurate sender information and a working opt-out in every email. Stick to work emails and relevant offers, and delete data on request.

Can Linkydy find phone numbers as well as emails?

Yes. Linkydy has both Find Email and Find Phone buttons on LinkedIn profiles and Sales Navigator profiles. Results land on the lead card in the built-in CRM and are included in CSV exports.

Does the email finder work on Sales Navigator profiles?

Yes. The 1-click Find Email and Find Phone buttons work on regular LinkedIn profiles and on Sales Navigator profile pages, so you can enrich leads without leaving your Sales Navigator workflow.
